making babies 101: lesson 1.1

last night we went to pick up the results of the bloody test i did with the gynae. everything came out normal (alhamdulillah). we've started *18SX* vigorously even before the results came in wahahaa hey who said i can't enjoy it while it lasts? :)
lesson 1.2
:
wait for the period to NOT come.
coming soon
lesson 2:
when u've realised that u're late by say 2 weeks, rush to the pharmacy and get a pregnancy test kit. subsequently, do visit your doctor again to get the genuine results, although i don't think the doctor's test kit is any terer-er than the ones sold on the shelves. but, do it anyway. u'll feel much better. like, validated or smthg.
ps: straightening my hair tomoro on thaipusam/kl day. fed-up la with the current hair.. so stiff and blech..
happy day-off folks! :)

boyz to men to boyz again :)

***

there's an ugly-inside-but-could-be-disguised-in-pretty-feathers little bird that's been circulating a bad rumour about me being free in the office i.e. takde keja. who is this bird, i wonder? i wonder if this bird has got so much time on its pretty little feet to go around making stories about other people to make itself look like the champion who saves thousands of dollars of company resources so that the so-called free people would get a bad rap from the bosses.

note to bird: get the fuck out of my face u sodding sick loser. u are talking about other people because u have no inkling of a life and that u are so fucking jealous of the fabulous me that u are making up these rumours to bring me down. get a fucking life and stop this nasty habit that u have. i know for a fact that i don't kacau people and i wish for the same respect from others. but u being a saiko loser of course tak boleh tengok orang senang, kan?? i curse u to hell u fucking shit. do your own work and don't disturb other people lah! kalau aku takde, sibuk tanya "where is she? where is she?" bila aku ada nak sabo aku pulak. babi.

"i'm here for the lack of a better idea"

like....
.
.
oh
.
.
my gawd.

a long, long time ago, approximately 11 in human years (and maybe 277 in lizard years), i had a not-so-secret crush on someone.. i thought that crush had faded away over the years as i matured and realised that this crush would never turn into anything more than a one-sided infatuation..

but last night, something woke up inside me that shook me to my core.. my heart actually said "i still love him"... and i wish to continue this infatuation until it fades into the wind again, just like it did before..

yes ladies & germs, i am talking about my long-lost crushed love, Mr. Leonardo DiCaprio in his latest movie, Blood Diamond.

i first fell in love with him in his ever-so-remarkable-yet-some-people-say-cheesy role in Romeo & Juliet. i stumbled upon the vcd and watched it on my dinosaur computer at the dilapidated hole i call a dormitory back in my uni days.. over and over again would i repeat the movie until the cd rusted. after romeo & juliet, came Titanic and the same process was repeated (i'm such a soppy romantic). i think i watched titanic at the cinemas more than 5 times. yeah u can say i'm corny, but i don't care what u say, remember? :P

i digress.

do i need to tell u the plot of blood diamond? i think u'd get a better idea by clicking on the link i provided earlier. i just want to gush at my leo. so u should stop here if u don't want to barf hihi.

how can he be denied of a golden globe for his role in titanic in 1997 really leaves me baffled. maybe the golden globe committee were just jealous or threatened by this talented actor who was rapidly making it titanic-ally big by the highest grossing ever box office movie in the history of hollywood. he should've won the best actor award whatever u all say. no matter what kind of movies he makes, he is a dedicated actor who really delves into his character and makes it come alive. have u ever seen what's eating gilbert grape with him and johnny depp? well, that movie is a milestone, as far as i'm concerned.

i digress again teehee

here's a gist of the movie:

Danny Archer (leo's character) is a diamond smuggler. Solomon Vandy (Djimon Hounsou) is a fisherman who was captured and forced to work in the diamond mines of the rebels. one day, solomon found a pink diamond the size of a bird's egg in a river amongst the rebels and other captives. fate has it that a pipe burst in the background and the rebels' attention were distracted. solomon quickly tucked the diamond between his toes, feigned no. 2, went into the bushes and buried the stone where he could find it again once he is free.

danny's and solomon's paths crossed because of the diamond and the rest of the story: go watch it yourself lah. u won't regret it, i promise.

Mr. Hounsou is a superb actor as well and the combination of him and leo made the movie electric!

leo's pale blue bordering grey eyes pierce me to the depths of my soul whenever the cameraman pans his face tightly and he smiles brightly with his rugged stubbled face on the huge silver screen.. sigh.. plus he's filled out in all the rigth places, a relief from the skinny white boy image he had in The Aviator and Catch Me If You Can and many others before it. i still loved him nevertheless, cos maybe back then my preferences in men were different than what it is now.. oh well..

omg can i stop digressing already?

the title of this post is a line leo said when he was chatting up the American journalist, Maddy Bowen (Jennifer Connelly). i thought it's a BRILLIANT line (yeah i guess i must give the credit to the scriptwriter, but the line could've drowned if he hadn't said it his way) heeee :)

i know, i'm biased.

blood diamond is mostly a violent movie (it's rated R: strong violent scenes and language). but it's got its light moments as well, with a dash of humour here and a sprinkling of romance there. gave me the sniffles also in a few heart-wrenching scenes.

so to the girls: if u are a fellow dicaprio fan, this is an eye-candy movie - u can ogle, stare, drool to your heart's desire. if u are the action-packed kinda gal, this movie is also good for your sick and twisted minds. to the guys: i'm sure u'd be thrilled to know that there are many hardcore guns & bombs and gory bloodshed that make up the storyline throughout the whole show.

conclusion: of course i'm gonna say it's worth every penny of the RM12.00 the lover paid for our tickets (wednesday cheap mah).

i heart leo! (my my what gave that away?)

Danny: i'm here for the lack of a better idea...
Maddy: ... :-\ ...

gypsie is a self-entertainer. she finds things to do when she's bored. it could be as simple as sleeping, or playing by herself. but panda... panda has separation anxiety disorder. when he's left alone, he'll demand attention from us. like this morning, he was yowling outside our bedroom door since 6 am i think.. i thought it was all a dream, but i woke up to use my inhaler (had a very stressful dream) and heard him meowing and yowling like he's hurt or smthg. gosh that cat. sometimes i wish he was a mute!

my dream.... i dreamt that i had to go through my own wedding AGAIN. stressful or not? immediately got my asthma, man...

making babies 101: lesson 1

for the first time ever, we went to visit a gynae yesterday for a preconception checkup. i was this particular doctor's patient last year at sjmc for a minor surgery so the familiarity was a relief.. furthermore she remembered me from before. i have such a memorable face meh? :P
she gave us some valuable advice on what are the best times to conceive, what kind of viruses i should check myself for (rubella, toxo, hsv, smthg else).. for this they had to take some blood from me (uhuk uhuk painful). then she did an ultrasound scan on my tummy.

"this is your right ovary and your fallopian tube, very nice.. and this is your uterus, it's not down here or anywhere else
(ya where else should it be? on my knee?) your uterus is normal.. this is your left ovary and the tube.. there's no cyst or growth anywhere..

basically your organs are biyootiful"
i felt sooooooooooo relieved and happy!

now can make biyootiful baby *silly grin*
oh ya, if u should decide to go for a preconception checkup like us, be prepared with loads of cash in your hubby's wallet or at least go to a clinic with a credit card facility. however, this only applies if they take your blood for lab testing to check for different types of viruses (mine was 4 types), which costs a bomb. our bill came up to RM480 *yikes* it rudefully surprised us but thank god for company medical benefits ;)
for the meantime, these are my babies...

ready, set, backFIRE!

did u listen to fly fm this morning at 7.30am?

they have this segment called fixit. the big bang breakfast show (BBBS) claims that they can fix anyone's problems, hence "fixit".

this girl emailed the BBBS about her not being able to reach her fiance in the US for 4 months.. (for real ah? 4 months? she had so much faith in him? tsk tsk tsk).. so the BBBS called him up on her behalf..

lo and behold, guess who answered the phone?

the fiance's american girlfren.

and the girl was on the other line, listening in!

KUANG KUANG KUANGGGGGGGG

lots of toots and beeps were communicated before the fiance hung up.

wahahaaa backfire gilerbabies! :D

me and the lover laughed at the irony of it while cuddling in the morning cold ;)

i have a confession... of an obsession..

it started as us watching the rerun of star wars episode III last nite while eating the cupcakes i got from cuppacakes :) (so cantik i tell u, tapi aku baham jugak)

halfway thru the show i got very bad sniffles cos panda and gypsie were all over us.. i sneezed so loudly, i think the polar bears in north pole could've heard me.. so i popped some pills, lied down on the bed and instantly felt sleepy. the lover said he would record the rest of the star wars show for us and i pun ok lah, terus tertido... that was at 11 pm.

i slept quite soundfully.... until i woke up in the middle of the night and i couldn't go back to sleep.

it was around 2.30 am or smthg like dat and the lover was snoring like hell. i touched his nose so that he'd turn the other side and stop the grumbling noise he's making. he stirred, touched his nose, pulled me into his arms, i told him that he was snoring and he said sorry (sleepily), i put my head on his chest and he fell asleep almost instantly. i was still wide awake and my brain was working at full speed.. he was quiet for ALL of 5 mins!! then the snoring came back!!

in all that time, my head was thinking of how i would write about this when i get to work. i almost got up and went to the computer room to write about the plight i was in, but decided (wisely) not to..

well ladies & germs, this is what i'm confessing to: my current obsession of blogging. i would obsess about what i will write in my next entry, and how i would make it interesting for people to read. i was even constructing words in my head ok... literally putting words and sentences together.. and i always ALWAYS think of a title to go with my story.. this particular entry was all SO planned. geez. as embarassing as it is to admit, it's true...

what the hell is wrong with me??? don't i have more important things to do - like sleep? so pathetic man... i have to get a different hobby lah.

it wasn't helping that panda and gypsie were playing at the hall outside, very loudly i might add.. haa i'm not the only one with an obsession, panda has one too! his obsession is to be around us all the FRIGGIN time! he was meowing so loudly and scratching the door so that we'd let him in.. omg, i almost lost it!

i got up, went to the bathroom, and still the lover was snoring away when i jumped back into bed... i tossed and turned and tickled him, and still he didn't stop.. i had to lie in that condition (endure the snoring, the meowing, scratching & collar bells ringing, and having an active brain) for about an hour.. finally at around 4 am (when i was partly satisfied with what to write), i dozed off myself and had a weird dream about my boss (gross).

in the morning, woke up earlier than other days and the lover actually remembered that i couldn't sleep because of his snoring and apologized... said he was tired last night.. ok never mind.. but the next time he does it and i can't sleep because of it, i'll just put a pillow on his face or just wake him up and teman me during one of my insomnia attacks.

hmph

wind of change

You've Changed 60% in 10 Years

You've done a good job changing with the times, but deep down, you're still the same person.
You're clothes, job, and friends may have changed some - but it hasn't changed you.
hey cool stuff eh? got it from a senorita's blog (thanks). take the test y'all!
lookie at my description. since i was 19 or 20 years old, i've been, somehow or rather, true to myself. i'm proud of that :)
...some changes are more obvious than others. i can now see: the wrinkles, the sicknesses, the low metabolism, the tolerance level, the mellowness, the interests, the frens... in every aspect, a certain amount of change had been established with or without my knowledge.
...other changes are less evident and to me, those are the changes that i should be monitoring.. but how do i do that if i don't know what they are?
hehe
just go with the flow lah.. buat apa nak pening kepala??

questions that sometimes enter my head

first of all, i'd like to share this article with u guys out there.. i told u that in 100 forwarded emails, at least 2 or 3 are good ones right? i got this from a dear fren and i think it's the best answer to my (sometimes burning) question..

---
This is a very good article. read it.
Those who are still single may learn something from here....
Those who are already married may take it as a guideline to improve your marriage....
DID I MARRY THE RIGHT PERSON?
During one of our seminars, a woman asked a common question. She said, "How do I know if I married the right person?" I noticed that there was a large man sitting next to her so I said,"It depends. Is that your husband?" In all seriousness, she answered "How do you know?"
Let me answer this question because the chances are good that it's weighing on your mind.
Here's the answer.
EVERY
relationship has a cycle. In the beginning, you fell in love with your spouse. You anticipated their call, wanted their touch, and liked their idiosyncrasies.
Falling in love with your spouse wasn't hard. In fact, it was a completely natural and spontaneous experience. You didn't have to DO anything. That's why it's called "falling" in love...
Because it's happening TO YOU.
People in love sometimes say, "I was swept off my feet." Think about the imagery of that expression. It implies that you were just standing there; doing nothing, and then something came along and happened TO YOU.
Falling is love is easy. It's a passive and spontaneous experience. But after a few years of marriage, the euphoria of love fades. It's the natural cycle of EVERY relationship.
Slowly but surely, phone calls become a bother (if they come at all), touch is not always welcome (when it happens), and your spouse's idiosyncrasies, instead of being cute, drive you nuts.
The symptoms of this stage vary with every relationship, but if you think about your marriage, you will notice a dramatic difference between the initial stage when you were in love and a much duller or even angry subsequent stage.
At this point, you and/or your spouse might start asking, "Did I marry the right person?" And as you and your spouse reflect on the euphoria of the love you once had, you may begin to desire that experience with someone else. This is when marriages breakdown. People blame their spouse for their unhappiness and look outside their marriage for fulfillment.
Extramarital fulfillment comes in all shapes and sizes. Infidelity is the most obvious. But sometimes people turn to work, a hobby, a friendship, excessive TV, or abusive substances.
But the answer to this dilemma does NOT lie outside your marriage. It lies within it. I'm not saying that you couldn't fall in love with someone else. You could.
And TEMPORARILY you'd feel better. But you'd be in the same situation a few years later.
Because (listen carefully to this):
THE KEY TO SUCCEEDING IN MARRIAGE IS NOT FINDING THE RIGHT PERSON; IT'S LEARNING TO LOVE THE PERSON YOU FOUND.
SUSTAINING love is not a passive or spontaneous experience. It'll NEVER just "happen" to you. You can't "find" LASTING love. You have to "make" it day in and day out. That's why we have the expression "the labor of love."
Because it takes time, effort, and energy . And most importantly, it takes WISDOM. You have to know WHAT TO DO to make your marriage work.
Make no mistake about it. Love is NOT a mystery. There are specific things you can do (with or without your spouse) to succeed with your marriage.
Just as there are physical laws of the universe (such as gravity), there are also laws for relationships. Just as the right diet and exercise program makes you physically stronger, certain habits in your relationship WILL make your marriage stronger. It's a direct cause and effect. If you know and apply the laws, the results are predictable...you can "make" love.
Love in marriage is indeed a "decision"... Not just a feeling.
---

when i read it, it hit home. cos some of the things that is written in this article are the things that i've communicated to the lover even before reading it - like: marriage takes hard work; direct cause & effect of our (good or bad) habits to each other; etc. it makes me feel vindicated that an expert would actually say it to back me up :)

*

why is it acceptable to be skimping around in a 2-piece bathing suit and lie on a beach without so much of a care in the world, but NOT acceptable to wear your bra and pannies doing the same thing? they look just the same, only different in design that's all. but why have double standards for these 2 similar items?

*

why is it that bad things seem to only happen to u, but not to others? am i alone in this world who thinks this way?
*
why is it that women have so much feelings and men don't? it's not fair.
*
why do cats meow so much? and why do they scratch EVERYthing? can't they just sit there and look cute all the time? and can't their fur NOT shed? (solution: plastic cat teehee)
*
what if the future baby that i'll be carrying not normal? how do i cope with that? trauma man...
*
why do i have such big b**bs? and thighs? and hips? and a**? and the most recent one: arms?
*
why is he so nice to me?
*
am i crazy??

aku lelah and hating it

i like reading other people's blogs, but then i sometimes envy them for having more colourful lives than i do.. i'm a bore in my standards.. boo hoo hoo.
and also, i envy them for being more pandai in I.T. - they know how to cantikkan their pix with so many special effects, i jeres. mine is all straight-forward - bosan.
and also their blogs have nicer skins that my boring one.. i know i can learn the trade but i'm just too lazy. u gonna shoot me for that?
and then nowadays ni my asthma is attacking me where it hurts - when i sleep.
i don't get enough sleep anymore cos i cough and my chest tightens and then i have to wake up in the wee hours of the morning to use the inhaler and then i feel guilty for using the inhaler cos i use it like more than 10 times a day and that's not the way it should be and i feel that it's the cats' fur and i know that any doctor i consult with will tell me to get rid of them but i know i can't cos i can't live without them just like i can't like without my lover and now i don't know what to do and i so hate being in this situation cos it's like do or die kinda thing arrgghhhhh maybe i'm allergic to smthg but i dono what it is so how will i know what it is if i don't go to the doctor for a consultation which i've been delaying for the longest time cos i think i'm a superhuman who can self-heal so now i'm suffering from my own doing and heidey says that my eyes look like they haven't been getting enough rest and i also notice that my skin is losing its colour so now what i'm doing is googling for astma specialists to gain some hope in living a healthier life but that usually involves some form of exercising and i hate exercising cos a sweating zeeda is not an attractive zeeda but then again a sick zeeda is not an attractive zeeda either
hiyok
chocolates make me happy :)
i gave out a mass text on new year's eve saying that i'll be turning 30 tearfully at the stroke of midnite but i lied cos i didn't cry just felt a tug in my heart tugging tugging i don't feel like i'm 30 and that's all that matters but sometimes it matters that people don't think i'm too young cos i hate not being taken seriously they tend to undermine me just because they think i'm a young kuci brardy herr they should just die well maybe not die maybe they should just take things easy cos life is not a competition on who knows what most and who is the wisest of us all they should just take a chill pill oh how i can't say that enough
was talking to heidey yesterday and i just realised that this is the year for getting a baby. i can't delay it any longer. i'm 30 (well, in june officially).
am i ready for it? yes i am, mentally. but am i ready for the bodily expansion that will imminently take place? and all that hormonal changes? (eleh macam la tak biasa deal with fluctuating hormones, abis tu masa pms tu apa?)
ready kut... my weight's gained anyway. so why not just carry on with a pregnancy...? then people can't say that i gained weight because i didn't take care of myself (it's the baby's fault!!).
i want to go and buy books on expecting. i saw some at 1U's mph the other day. interesting read, they will be (i'm currently following the star wars saga and i'm a big fan of yoda ;)
*excited* (on getting preggers i mean) more excited in the "making" *wink*wink*
oya i dropped my (free) camera on the sand when we were in langkawi. shit lah. this is the second time i've done smthg so reckless. the 1st time happened to my old cam which i never bothered repairing. sux. i hate having butter fingers. but in my defense, it wasn't my fault this time, it was the wind's. i swear!
i just saw my buddy's wedding reception pix. the groom tetiba henskem la pulak hehehe don't worry babe u looked larvelly in every way. and the candid pic where u and glen sat down listening to a speech tu - priceless.
can't wait for the other wedding this year!!
woohoo par-tay :D
one for the girls:
thank GOD it's friday.

...to be continued is being continued here

latest update: [due to the s-l-o-w internet connection
(which is driving me up the fucking wall), i've just uploaded the photos here]
-- 4/1/07 - 10.53pm --

langkawi... ahhh... such a lovely name.. apa tah maksud dia, wa tatau.. yang wa tau is that it's my sin-free paradise :)

-BUT-

there were some glitches on the day we took off (30 Dec 06)...

our flight was supposed to be at 11.30am so we called a cabbie a few days before to take us to the airport. the cabbie arrived at our gate promptly enough on the designated date and the drive was ok although i could've done without the loud conversations between the hubby and the cabbie and i missed a couple of calls because of that - i was crabby when we got out :P a few feet away from the drop-off point at lcct, a text came in to jim's phone and airasia's message was opened. it said that our flight will be delayed to 12.45pm. i sighed a deep sigh of annoyance cos we arrived the airport at about 10am and we'll have to wait 2 hours and 45 mins instead of 1 and a half..

so anyway, when we got down from the cab, i checked my phone and dialled the missed call.. it was a northern number with the 04 code, i instantly knew it was the motel calling.

the gist of our conversation was that she wanted to let go of our reservation if we didn't arrive by 2pm because we didn't put in any deposits. my defense was that nobody asked for a deposit. i even called last month to confirm my booking and the person on the other end said yes, it's confirmed, but NEVER asked for any deposit. who's fault is it then? i was close to tears already.

we were already tired from waiting to board the plane. we ended up boarding at 1.25pm and the pain didn't end there. in the plane, it was all stuffy cos the engine wasn't on and there was no air-conditioning at all.. my sense of smell was tried & tested but i remained calm all the way so as not to increase my heart beat which will make me sweat... the lover was annoyed and he was fanning himself and tried to fan me as well, but i said i didn't need it.. he was actually surprised to see me so calm, i even surprised myself actually.. but it worked out well cos i didn't perspire at all..

we stayed in that unbelievable condition for an hour (remember, without a/c) and the plane only moved at 2.30pm.. arrived langkawi airport at 3.30pm and i wanted to kiss the ground that we landed on but of course i didn't hehe.

things went quite smoothly from there on... rented a car and drove to our motel on cenang beach (we got a room, thank god, owing to jim's negotiation skills).. the sight of water and sand really took away all the problems that we faced that morning.. we immediately put down our bags in our chalet, which had 2 queen beds and was verrrry clean and well-kept. the bathroom altho small, was mucho acceptable.. aside from the glitch with the deposits (which is definitely unique to me), i highly recommend this motel to anyone. the door of the chalet opens up to sand on your feet and overlooking the beach... very satisfying (only RM90 a nite including tv, a/c, fridge and shower heater!)

we had our lunch at one of the cafes on the beach at around 4pm (lambat gilos) and we straight away hit the beach after that.

3 more days of sitting on the sand and just lying down, reading a book.. that's the life. we didn't even do much of my favourite thing - shopping. well next to shopping, my other most favourite thing to do is being a beach bum, right...? ;)

all in all, my vacation was well worth it. langkawi is also a good place for honeymooners who can't afford an overseas venue... there were mat sallehs everywhere, surrounding us every single day on the beach.. i think we were the only malays there who were doing the same thing as they were - lazing around.. it didn't feel like we were in malaysia at all! cool :)

it was kind of sad to leave for kl... but we were also glad to come home to our kitties! hihi we're just a couple of cat freaks la, what can i say.

oh ya, forgot to say anything about aidiladha and new year's eve ek? well that just shows how much those things become forgotten when u're having so much fun and spending quality time with your better half... ;)

post new year

it's the 3rd day of the new year and i'm at home enjoying what's left of my holiday... a coupla hours till bedtime and when i open my eyes in the morning, it'll be a whole new "working" day. sigh... what a way to describe it.

i started on the post in a very pessimistic voice.. but since many of u out there are optimistic people, i'll just be a sheep and follow your rhythm (altho i hate the fact that i'm doing it).

so as a sheep (but without losing my originality), i'll give the customary wish - happy new year to one and all (said in a monotonous tone).

moving on...

if none of u know me any better, i don't do resolutions, especially new year's. it's very cliche and so 80s. so obviously i don't have any new year resolutions to be tricked into achieving... i don't use the new year as an excuse to give myself a goal in order to achieve smthg.. life's really short, what if u don't get to the new year alive? god can always take your life any time, u know. just create a goal u want to achive like now, say losing weight. if u really want it, u'll try your best to achieve it. it's as simple as that.

i don't wanna talk about resolutions anymore. it's so boring. EVERYbody has a new year resolution, where's the originality of it all gone to?

well, i'm not that original either actually... i spent my aidiladha slash new year on the stunning beaches of langkawi. i think that's as original as i can get. everybody else i know either went out to mingle with their families and/or the masses, or they stayed at home feeling sorry for themselves (or not - whatever).

i, on the other hand, had a blast. many servings of sex and chocolates - what woman in her right mind would want to refuse that? haha.

ps: pix and tales from langkawi - to be continued... ;)
