there's an ugly-inside-but-could-be-disguised-in-pretty-feathers little bird that's been circulating a bad rumour about me being free in the office i.e. takde keja. who is this bird, i wonder? i wonder if this bird has got so much time on its pretty little feet to go around making stories about other people to make itself look like the champion who saves thousands of dollars of company resources so that the so-called free people would get a bad rap from the bosses.

like....
.
.
oh
.
.
my gawd.
a long, long time ago, approximately 11 in human years (and maybe 277 in lizard years), i had a not-so-secret crush on someone.. i thought that crush had faded away over the years as i matured and realised that this crush would never turn into anything more than a one-sided infatuation..
but last night, something woke up inside me that shook me to my core.. my heart actually said "i still love him"... and i wish to continue this infatuation until it fades into the wind again, just like it did before..
yes ladies & germs, i am talking about my long-lost crushed love, Mr. Leonardo DiCaprio in his latest movie, Blood Diamond.
i first fell in love with him in his ever-so-remarkable-yet-some-people-say-cheesy role in Romeo & Juliet. i stumbled upon the vcd and watched it on my dinosaur computer at the dilapidated hole i call a dormitory back in my uni days.. over and over again would i repeat the movie until the cd rusted. after romeo & juliet, came Titanic and the same process was repeated (i'm such a soppy romantic). i think i watched titanic at the cinemas more than 5 times. yeah u can say i'm corny, but i don't care what u say, remember? :P
i digress.
do i need to tell u the plot of blood diamond? i think u'd get a better idea by clicking on the link i provided earlier. i just want to gush at my leo. so u should stop here if u don't want to barf hihi.
how can he be denied of a golden globe for his role in titanic in 1997 really leaves me baffled. maybe the golden globe committee were just jealous or threatened by this talented actor who was rapidly making it titanic-ally big by the highest grossing ever box office movie in the history of hollywood. he should've won the best actor award whatever u all say. no matter what kind of movies he makes, he is a dedicated actor who really delves into his character and makes it come alive. have u ever seen what's eating gilbert grape with him and johnny depp? well, that movie is a milestone, as far as i'm concerned.
i digress again teehee
here's a gist of the movie:
Danny Archer (leo's character) is a diamond smuggler. Solomon Vandy (Djimon Hounsou) is a fisherman who was captured and forced to work in the diamond mines of the rebels. one day, solomon found a pink diamond the size of a bird's egg in a river amongst the rebels and other captives. fate has it that a pipe burst in the background and the rebels' attention were distracted. solomon quickly tucked the diamond between his toes, feigned no. 2, went into the bushes and buried the stone where he could find it again once he is free.
danny's and solomon's paths crossed because of the diamond and the rest of the story: go watch it yourself lah. u won't regret it, i promise.
Mr. Hounsou is a superb actor as well and the combination of him and leo made the movie electric!
leo's pale blue bordering grey eyes pierce me to the depths of my soul whenever the cameraman pans his face tightly and he smiles brightly with his rugged stubbled face on the huge silver screen.. sigh.. plus he's filled out in all the rigth places, a relief from the skinny white boy image he had in The Aviator and Catch Me If You Can and many others before it. i still loved him nevertheless, cos maybe back then my preferences in men were different than what it is now.. oh well..
omg can i stop digressing already?
the title of this post is a line leo said when he was chatting up the American journalist, Maddy Bowen (Jennifer Connelly). i thought it's a BRILLIANT line (yeah i guess i must give the credit to the scriptwriter, but the line could've drowned if he hadn't said it his way) heeee :)
i know, i'm biased.
blood diamond is mostly a violent movie (it's rated R: strong violent scenes and language). but it's got its light moments as well, with a dash of humour here and a sprinkling of romance there. gave me the sniffles also in a few heart-wrenching scenes.
so to the girls: if u are a fellow dicaprio fan, this is an eye-candy movie - u can ogle, stare, drool to your heart's desire. if u are the action-packed kinda gal, this movie is also good for your sick and twisted minds. to the guys: i'm sure u'd be thrilled to know that there are many hardcore guns & bombs and gory bloodshed that make up the storyline throughout the whole show.
conclusion: of course i'm gonna say it's worth every penny of the RM12.00 the lover paid for our tickets (wednesday cheap mah).
i heart leo! (my my what gave that away?)
Danny: i'm here for the lack of a better idea...
Maddy: ... :-\ ...

did u listen to fly fm this morning at 7.30am?
they have this segment called fixit. the big bang breakfast show (BBBS) claims that they can fix anyone's problems, hence "fixit".
this girl emailed the BBBS about her not being able to reach her fiance in the US for 4 months.. (for real ah? 4 months? she had so much faith in him? tsk tsk tsk).. so the BBBS called him up on her behalf..
lo and behold, guess who answered the phone?
the fiance's american girlfren.
and the girl was on the other line, listening in!
KUANG KUANG KUANGGGGGGGG
lots of toots and beeps were communicated before the fiance hung up.

This is a very good article. read it.
DID I MARRY THE RIGHT PERSON?
During one of our seminars, a woman asked a common question. She said, "How do I know if I married the right person?" I noticed that there was a large man sitting next to her so I said,"It depends. Is that your husband?" In all seriousness, she answered "How do you know?"
Let me answer this question because the chances are good that it's weighing on your mind.
Here's the answer.
EVERY relationship has a cycle. In the beginning, you fell in love with your spouse. You anticipated their call, wanted their touch, and liked their idiosyncrasies.
Falling in love with your spouse wasn't hard. In fact, it was a completely natural and spontaneous experience. You didn't have to DO anything. That's why it's called "falling" in love...
Because it's happening TO YOU.
People in love sometimes say, "I was swept off my feet." Think about the imagery of that expression. It implies that you were just standing there; doing nothing, and then something came along and happened TO YOU.
Falling is love is easy. It's a passive and spontaneous experience. But after a few years of marriage, the euphoria of love fades. It's the natural cycle of EVERY relationship. Slowly but surely, phone calls become a bother (if they come at all), touch is not always welcome (when it happens), and your spouse's idiosyncrasies, instead of being cute, drive you nuts.
The symptoms of this stage vary with every relationship, but if you think about your marriage, you will notice a dramatic difference between the initial stage when you were in love and a much duller or even angry subsequent stage.
At this point, you and/or your spouse might start asking, "Did I marry the right person?" And as you and your spouse reflect on the euphoria of the love you once had, you may begin to desire that experience with someone else. This is when marriages breakdown. People blame their spouse for their unhappiness and look outside their marriage for fulfillment.
Extramarital fulfillment comes in all shapes and sizes. Infidelity is the most obvious. But sometimes people turn to work, a hobby, a friendship, excessive TV, or abusive substances.
But the answer to this dilemma does NOT lie outside your marriage. It lies within it. I'm not saying that you couldn't fall in love with someone else. You could.
And TEMPORARILY you'd feel better. But you'd be in the same situation a few years later.
THE KEY TO SUCCEEDING IN MARRIAGE IS NOT FINDING THE RIGHT PERSON; IT'S LEARNING TO LOVE THE PERSON YOU FOUND.
SUSTAINING love is not a passive or spontaneous experience. It'll NEVER just "happen" to you. You can't "find" LASTING love. You have to "make" it day in and day out. That's why we have the expression "the labor of love."
Because it takes time, effort, and energy . And most importantly, it takes WISDOM. You have to know WHAT TO DO to make your marriage work.
Make no mistake about it. Love is NOT a mystery. There are specific things you can do (with or without your spouse) to succeed with your marriage.
Just as there are physical laws of the universe (such as gravity), there are also laws for relationships. Just as the right diet and exercise program makes you physically stronger, certain habits in your relationship WILL make your marriage stronger. It's a direct cause and effect. If you know and apply the laws, the results are predictable...you can "make" love.
Love in marriage is indeed a "decision"... Not just a feeling.

it's the 3rd day of the new year and i'm at home enjoying what's left of my holiday... a coupla hours till bedtime and when i open my eyes in the morning, it'll be a whole new "working" day. sigh... what a way to describe it.
i started on the post in a very pessimistic voice.. but since many of u out there are optimistic people, i'll just be a sheep and follow your rhythm (altho i hate the fact that i'm doing it).
so as a sheep (but without losing my originality), i'll give the customary wish - happy new year to one and all (said in a monotonous tone).
moving on...
if none of u know me any better, i don't do resolutions, especially new year's. it's very cliche and so 80s. so obviously i don't have any new year resolutions to be tricked into achieving... i don't use the new year as an excuse to give myself a goal in order to achieve smthg.. life's really short, what if u don't get to the new year alive? god can always take your life any time, u know. just create a goal u want to achive like now, say losing weight. if u really want it, u'll try your best to achieve it. it's as simple as that.
i don't wanna talk about resolutions anymore. it's so boring. EVERYbody has a new year resolution, where's the originality of it all gone to?
well, i'm not that original either actually... i spent my aidiladha slash new year on the stunning beaches of langkawi. i think that's as original as i can get. everybody else i know either went out to mingle with their families and/or the masses, or they stayed at home feeling sorry for themselves (or not - whatever).
i, on the other hand, had a blast. many servings of sex and chocolates - what woman in her right mind would want to refuse that? haha.
ps: pix and tales from langkawi - to be continued... ;)
