one bed, one shower, one summons, one tiger... one island :)

"are there any pregnancies, maam?"

"no..... i'm just fat"

the girl at the airasia check-in counter at lcct asked me as we passed her our passports. maybe it was the dress.. hmmm...

kakcik, amin, my darling and i were on the same flight but dicky and wifey flew the day before on a different airline from singapore.

the flight to phuket was very smooth, i slept all the way except for the last 15mins before arrival.. and i woke up to an annoying middle-aged man who had a few machais around him.. he sat 2 rows behind us and was drunk. on the plane. rambling loudly (and i mean LOUDLY). we suspect he's a military guy who's on his way for a "funket" (fun junket) and we all know what a funket in fuket would involve right? (hint: full-service massage *wink*). the most embarrassing thing was that he was a melayu who drank too much beer on the plane in the middle of the afternoon and made a fool of himself. see now why i'm sometimes embarrassed of my own race? go figure.

so anywho, phuket in its essence is a beautiful island. but 'the land of smiles', it is not. the mat sallehs telah mengaburkan mata mereka dengan duitan yang banyak so they didn't even care about us asian tourists.. no smiles, just frowns. all of them asked us "where u from?" and once they hear malaysia je, terus they turn off. ciss...

...especially during shopping time. it was not an exciting experience to me. they open the prices of their goods way too high, thinking that we have the kind of money the europeans do and expecting us to either pay for it, or bargain for only a little bit and if we don't want to pay what they ask for, then they will tell us to shove off. jim's interpretation of the phuketians - "they are all out to get us". ya, out to get our money that is. a conversation with the locals told us that after the tsunami incident, businesspeople had to get loans from banks to rebuild their businesses hence the higher prices of goods.. profit margin is small and revenue mostly goes to paying the loans back.. oh well... if only i had this little piece of information before deciding to go, it would've saved us a lot of sakits hatis, right?

it was also very hot there, too hot for me actually.. i don't know if it was just me or other people also felt the same way, but the sunrays just bite your skin, totally blistering it. no matter how much sunblock i slathered on myself, i still got burnt. but it's ok. i want to show off my "tan" (read: gelap) to all and sundry ;)

dicky and wifey got sick from the tuk-tuk ride - literally, they got sick in plastic bags.. ewww.. poor things.

oh yeah we went to see a tiger show at this bar called a-go-go bar.. they had needles, bananas, pingpong balls, and smoked with their vajayjays.. there was a no photo, no v.d.o, no telefon policy so i cannot show anything to u as proof that i was there. shites. all i can say is that it was disgusting yet fascinating at the same time..

i felt strangely stirred and turned on.

*erkkk*

also, i ate a "telur belangkas" for the first time.. cools.

for our daily transport, we hired motorbikes and got a summons for parking at a zebra crossing one night. they, the people who ride in 3s on one bike and tak pakai helmet, nak saman we all? fuck off lah. tapi kena gak bayar 300bath to release the chains. cilakos they all. we were all gusto wanting to go for a massage right before that but after seeing the chains on the bikes, our spirits literally deflated but i went to get a mani & pedi. why worry when u can look preedy? hehe.

ok, whatever lah... here are some photos.. they are in no particular order whatsoever cos.. aku dah malas lah nak susun.. not an easy task okkay...

i'm a camwhore :P

tag: weird? more like barking mad!

apa kejadahnya u've been tagged ni? was my first reaction when amy and kak noresh left tagging comments. they both tagged me for the same exact thing but they themselves were tagged by different people.

to amy, i'm gonna blog about this now before i go to phuket, otherwise i'll just be thinking about it day and night (u'll understand why shortly, read on).

so at first, i didn't want to share with the world what my weirdness (or weirdom?) are but then i thought, what the heck. if u don't want to read it, then u won't la right? no fuss, no muss.

NEXT!

rules of tagging in general: tagged persons should choose an X number of people to be tagged later on and list down their names. tagged person #0 i.e. YOU (like "patient zero" in Heroes) must leave a comment at tagged people's blogs saying that they have been tagged by u.

rule of this specific tag: write down six weird things about yourself (and thus humiliating your grand self in the process). then choose six other people [my victims are kay, leen nation, suan, acat, azrul, anisism] so that they can share their humiliation too haha. then each of my victims will tag 6 other people so it's more like a pyramid scheme, or MLM gitu, tapi takde jual2 produk la.

before i start (this lengthy post), i would like to establish what u mere mortals call 'weird' as an idiosyncrasy. 'weird' would only make me look like a weirdo, which i am totally not *grrr*.

definition:
id·i·o·syn·cra·sy / Show Spelled Pronunciation [id-ee-uh-sing-kruh-see] noun, plural -sies.
1. a characteristic, habit, mannerism, or the like, that is peculiar to an individual.
2. the physical constitution peculiar to an individual.
3. a peculiarity of the physical or the mental constitution, esp. susceptibility toward drugs, food, etc. Compare
allergy (def. 1).

in this tag's case, it is more of definition no. 1.

ok so after establishing that, i would also like to announce that i am a cool person no matter how many idiosyncrasies i have. and i have many. but i'll just follow the rules of this tag and sum up the top 6 for u (tanak malu sebenarnya hehe).

in order of mildest to insane, here they are..

-----------

#6 looking at people's teeth

eversince i braved myself to put on the braces 2 yrs ago, i've become hooked on looking at people's teeth when i talk to them to see if their teeth are straight or crooked and if they need braces themselves. if their teeth are senget, i wonder why won't they go and do smthg about it. if they have straight and white teeth, i would go "waa cantiknya gigi dia" in my head and continue to stare with sparkly eyes until i unconciously drool.

#5 words in my head

i have a penchant for the english language. in my head, i like to form words into sentences. sometimes i get to put them down on paper, but sometimes they remain random words and sentences in my head. i like to explain things in writing and think of where to put that comma or exclamation mark, which makes me long-winded but if it makes people understand better, why not right? fortunately, since i have a blog, the fact that my head just can't stop thinking of topics to write about and how to write them every single day is actually turning out well for both my head and i.

oh and i also read the dictionary for kicks. i am anal like that.

#4 i count

no i'm not count dracula (altho before the braces, i carried the title much more easily). i count the steps in my head everytime i walk, but only if my brain is idle. if i were to be talking on the phone while walking takkan la aku nak kira my steps pulak, nanti confuse ler (one two three ya hello four five aku tengah shopping ni six seven haha you're so funny eight nine huh? which handsome boy? oh shucks where was i...) - the flitting brain oft doth wander -

and i like to add sums of random car reg. numbers. like for eg.: my car's reg. number is ABC 773, the sum of these 3 digits is 17. tadaa! the highest sum a malaysian car can have is 36 (ABC 9999) and the lowest is 1 la bongok.

#3 being anal

(wait, is being anal something peculiar or just annoying? geez i'm getting mighty confused now)

but anyway, i am a semi-anal person (that solved the confusion!).

definition:
anal / Show Spelled Pronunciation [eyn-l] adjective
1. of or related to the anus; "anal thermometer"
2. a stage in psychosexual development when the child's interest is concentrated on the anal region; fixation at this stage is said to result in orderliness, meanness, stubbornness, compulsiveness, etc. [ant: oral]

of course in this case, definition no. 2 avails. i don't know what happened when i was a little child that resulted me to be like this. but i am very anal about certain things, like:

(a) time i.e. punctuality
(b) grammar - correcting mine over and over again until i think it's perfect (like for this blog esp.) and also other people's (verbal and written)
(c) making lists - it saves so much time to make lists, that's all i can say.
(d) putting things back after i take them from their places/locations. i don't like leaving things lying around the house (like the other half simply loves to do). altho i'm a known procrastinator, i hate looking at things lying around where they don't belong even more (like an umbrella in the toilet; bags left on the floor until they're covered with dust; pieces of unwanted plywood around the laundry basket - don't ask why)

#2 rubbing my nails

i like to rub my nails on smthg (must be soft). non comprende? well, for instance when jim and i are holding hands, i won't hold hands like normal people do, i like to hide my fingers inside his hand so that my nails aren't exposed to harsh elements, especially the cold...

... like so (left hand is mine if u can't tell the blardy difference, it's curled under his)

most of the time my index finger would be hiding between the crevice of his index & middle fingers...

... like so (can u see my hiding index finger? of course u can't!)

i also rub my nails on my clothes all the time...

... like here (hand in yonder is hun's)

and the

#1 is (drumroll pls)...........

folding my pinky toe

as in the photo here, i absolutely must fold my pinky toe when my feet are idle (only when not wearing shoes la - duh)...

... like so (why? because sukati akulah)

----------

ok so dah cukup 6 dah. do u think i'm weird now? or eccentric? or just insane? is it anti-climatic? whatever lah. this is my first time playing this tagging game. so there.

>> to the people whom i've tagged, if u don't want to play, nothing bad will happen to u. your house will not get burnt down, your love life will not suffer any trauma, u will not lose your money. tanak main sudah. i just like your personalities from the way u write (well, 4 of u at least cos the other 2 are frens in real life) so i'd love to know about your weirdom (??).

it's been fun for me to actually list down my idiocrasies (short for idiosyncrasies - see, i'm doing it again - refer to #5).

last words: when many people (more than 2 is many) have the same peculiar characteristics about them, then it cancels out the peculiarity and makes it normal to have these characteristics in the first place. don't worry, u are not alone hehe.

no matter.. u shall still refer to me as the cool chick.

it's just a frikkin dress for crying out loud

digressing statement: i've packed yay!! 1 1/2 more days to go till take-off (thursday) (whoop with me - whoop whoop! :D )

back to the show.

ok this story is a bit basi already, but i'm gonna write about it anyway cos i was asked, no, urged, by heidey schmeidey (hehe) to write about this linda onn oscar dress issue. i told her at first that i didn't want to because i haven't been following the issue and have not formed any opinions about it...... up till just now.

today's the star showed linda onn's picture shedding a tear under her armani shades with the caption:

No compromise: Linda arriving at the KLIA from Los Angeles yesterday. She said the corset stitched by Radzuan did not fit her properly and was revealing.

revealing?? wtf?? apa yang revealing sangat about this (pic)? alasan.

conversation with babe heidey (to give me more ideas on this issue) (not exact words la ye, ada yang terkurang and ada yang tertokok tambah, aku ni kan pelupa yarabbi :)

me: i never followed the issue la beb cos aku tau nanti aku akan emotional pulak if i do.
babe: ye ke.. aku ni dah tak tahan dah la, dia asyik cakap pasal dress dia tu je. can't she just accept that maybe it's her lack of fluency in english that made her pull out from the show?
me: lepas ko dah suruh aku tulis pasal dia ni, i am now formulating my opinions on her/the issue hihi..
babe: haa bagus. did u see the dress that si radzuan tu made for her?
me: ya i did, and i think since she's a dark-skinned person kan, the colour of the dress didn't flatter her looks kot.. i mean, i guess orang-orang yang gelap ni misti la sensitif pasal their skin colour kan..
babe: ya i guess so but i can't believe the fact that SHE got chosen to partner with dominic lau to interview superstars and important people! would she even understand what those people would've said to her? what credibility does she have?
me: ya i can't believe it too! she's won la some awards, but they are malaysian awards and most importantly, the malaysian award associations normally choose the winners based on the voting system. so who votes for her? the stupid mass. not because she deserves it. just because she's popular.
babe: ya, who else. and they think that she's gonna go there and speak malay to those mat sallehs izit?
me: haha ya.. so stupid. and that dominic guy is no better kan! we have formed our opinions about him already right.. sheeshhh.. how can someone in the entertainment industry not do any research before hosting such an important event? ini aku rasa dia pakai tanya je soalan2 from the script given to him by the director.. so bodoh!!
babe: yaaa how can he not have watched happy feet?! so stupid!!

reports from the star:

Although the dress was beautiful (ya right), Linda said it was not comfortable as the corset was not compatible to the outer bodice. (sure or notttt)

She said she had not gone though a fitting process for the dress and there would not have been enough time to do alterations. (ohhh-kayyyy)

When Linda asked to be exempted from wearing Radzuan’s dress, as the discomfort would have affected her self-confidence (confidence kemenda?) during the show, she was told that if she chose not to wear it, she would not be on air. (memang padan muka pon)

ok, so the opinions that i've formed about this whole matter are:

1. tv show hosts are not very smart (lights-are-on-but-nobody's-home syndrome)

2. one of them being domonic lau, who was humiliated ON AIR about him not watching happy feet while interviewing the happy feet DIRECTOR (horror of horrors!!!)

3. and of course linda onn, who did not appear at work at a prestigious event due to a "costume malfunction". come on lah. just suck it up and do the job lah, kata professional sangat! then people will look up to u for showing a good example of not being the diva that u so adamantly deny.

4. she doesn't realise that she's just created such a bad rap for herself no matter how much she says "I am also glad that I stood up for myself" - my ass lah. this is an international company lah wei, not some malaysian player that u can screw around.. god, how dense can she be.

5. i think she got stage fright at seeing all the kwai lohs there and takut that she'd be the only host who can't converse FLUENTLY and ARTICULATELY in english..

6. other hosts should have been chosen to follow through with this kind of job, someone like fazura or sazzy falak - who by the way speak english perfectly and are familiar with the slangs that the people at the oscars have (not all are americans mah, there are other nationalities as well who speak very much differently than the regular american, so kalau tak paham, memang akan nampak bodoh la).

7. this attitude that linda onn has portrayed is not an exemplifiable example to other hosts and therefore the so-called awards that she has in her trophy cabinet should be confiscated.

8. star movies and astro should've just let her wear the indonesian designer dress la... what's the big fucking deal if she wore that or a malaysian made dress? macam lah orang kat oscar tu nak tanya dia "who are u wearing?" like she's some superstar - more like "who the fuck are u" adalah..

9. the baju that radzuan designed was barking ugly.

can someone show us how the dress by the indonesian designer looks like? or does it even EXIST?

it's just another manic monday.. wo wo..

... i wish it were sunday, cos that's my fun day, i don't have to runday (what the hell was the singer saying?), it's just another manic monday...

i got bored of the previous template, hence this fresh new look. i think this will be a regular thing from now on... the changing of templates that is, not sticking to this one of course.

so anyway, the wkend was a very moving wkend. not moving as in touching, moving as in moving things.

saturday saw the arrival of the new furniture (whoop!:) and then the house was temporarily full of new and old furniture.. we needed to get rid of the old ones pronto.

on sunday the cleaner came to clean the house and we asked her if she'd like to take the stuff from us.. she said her house is too small and can only take the mattress.. but then after she left she must've gone to another house to clean and she told the people she was cleaning for that we're giving away furniture. they came and looked at the stuff and said that they'd give them away to the poor, which was a better option cos dapat la pahala sikit, kan.. so a lorry came in the evening to pick up hunny's furniture that he got when he was a bachelor (really bad furniture i tell u, what would he have done with the lovely house without me? i shudder at the mere thought!)

so now our house is "lighter" and feels a little bit newer to me, i so hapsie :D

oh ya, i went to the MPH warehouse sale on saturday and bought meself 5 chicklits and 3 interior decor magazines (konon nak belajar on how to decorate my house la ni, i'm so hopeless at it u know!). all these cost me RM92 ONLY! best gilos!!! now i have books to bring to phuket! woohooo!!!
=+=+=+=+=+=+=+=+=

last week i received a mail from an old fren, she was my senior back in ssp and my roomie for a while in ppp. she sent me a card and a keychain from california with a little palm tree and the sunset in the horizon print when she went to visit there in 1999 (the keychain, not the card). she apologised for the delay in giving me the souvenir (8 years to be exact! hehe) but a gift is a gift, no matter how long ago they purchased it. i loved it instantly cos she had my name engraved on it. it's super cool!
when i got it, i saw that she had my name spelled as z-i-e-d and memories came flooding back. that was how i used to spell my name back in school (z-i-e-d-a). i did it just because i wanted variety in the letters of my name. u see, it was accidental that my schoolmates called me zeeda. i was a latecomer in Form1 and there was already a Sharifah in my own class (go figure) and she was already called Sha (my primary schoolmates still call me that) so i had to blardy choose another name to be identified with. my family calls me "nor" and i adamantly didn't want to be known as that in school. so the only other option is either "ram" or "zeeda" or "ramzeeda"... and u know which one i chose...

so back in high school, i perasan i was creative.. i used to design my name (the z-i-e-d-a) in so many ways and put it under the plastic cover of my desk. if there were 2 'e's, the designs wouldn't be too design-ish la.. so that's why i changed it to one 'i' and one 'e'.. konon cool la tu.. tah pape tah.

but my point is, and i do have one, is that i would like to thank KAK NORESH for remembering that - quote: "california would've been your playground had the economy did not turn out as it did back in 1997" - unquote. i almost shed a tear when i read what she wrote in the card *sniff*.

THANKS KAK, it really means a lot to me. now it's hanging off from my bunch of house keys and i proudly carry it around :)
=+=+=+=+=+=+=+=+=

phuket is 3 days away! and i'm almost as excited at the thought that my one and only sister will be staying over at my house the night before we take off! whoopie!! :D

she'll be leaving the 2 monsters at her sister in law's place while all of us adults gallavant away on the island. she's feeling the pang of leaving them behind already now. alamak... she's taken pictures of them already to bring as "bekal". ayoyoo...

this was one of them...

we haven't packed yet, can u imagine? the wkend was so cramped, we didn't get a chance to. shucks.
