didn't plan it at all, in fact, i planned for bigger things for myself.. how ironic is that part 2

didn't plan for this post to be the 2nd part, but i didn't plan for a lot of things, remember?

i was drifting off to sleep last night and i was thinking: how did i get here?

i could've gotten married with my 1st ever boyfriend of 5 years (let's call him JJ) but i didn't. when he proposed to me, i was only 20 or 21 and i was still ambitious back then. he told me that when i'm finished with my studies, he would send his rombongan to see my family.. that proposal shocked my system, didn't do him any good at all. it made me think: do i really want to spend the rest of my life with this guy? just one guy? will i not experience anymore butterflies of new love? this milestone actually propelled me to look for another boyfriend. i realised that i didn't really love JJ and that there's more to life out there.

i realised that i wanted to be somebody someday and i had to work hard to get there.. i mean, i could've just taken the easy way by marrying him, have his kids and take care of our home... but i didn't. and that said a lot.

i planned to work my way up to a managerial position in "5 years' time". let me just first say, what a load of crap those sayings are - the "in 5 years' time" thing.. it's so over-used in company recruitments. how would u know where u'll be in 5 years? i mean, yes u can work your butt off to get where u want to be, but as i said, kita hanya mampu merancang, hanya Tuhan yang menentukannya... so to interviewers who like to ask that kind of question, please don't expect to get an honest answer because for all u know, the person sitting in front of u:

(choose your horror story)
a) could get into a horrible accident
b) could get robbed and shot
c) could die from a tsunami
d) could be called for a family emergency in Timbuktu
OR
e) the world could come to an end..

..the next day. it's not fair to ask one to see into one's future when all the future predictions can only be done by Him, right?

so anyhoo, i'm still a nobody now, but i know that if i had married JJ, i wouldn't be enjoying this kind of financial freedom, gathered this much experience, have this kind of opinions... in short, i would've been a much different person with different experiences.. i could've even become a janda by the age of 25, who knows.. so i'm glad i didn't marry JJ.

the "bigger things" that i planned for myself when i was younger, they weren't that big to begin with la.. but it's also made me realise that if i had become the manager that i was planning to be, i wouldn't have been ready.. heck, i don't even want to be a manager now yet cos then i'd have to "manage" more things & more people and hold more responsibilities.. i am so not ready for all that.. i'm still working out my messed-up personal life!

where i am right now is purely by accident.. i just have to decide soon whether i like where i am right now or not... if i don't, changes must be put in place.. and if i'm ok, then i'll be glad that i am... mesti bersyukur mah...

i can plan the hell out of every planner in the world for my future (career/personal) and make myself a somebody, but the good thing about being a gemini is that i can also take a backseat and go with the flow.. be more spontaneous.. i think that gives me more character...

geminians kick butt!

[update at 3.30 pm]
i'm getting sick of doing PR... correction: i'm not getting sick of it, i am sick of it. total and utter vile. i never went out to find a job in PR, it found me. i wanted to be in advertising (cos i thot it was cool like that, which i later found out that it's not that cool according to my advertising frens). it's been almost 8 years and i'm still doing the same old thing. meeting up, inviting, talking, writing for the media seems like a sordid chore now than a joy.. well, it never was a joy, but at least it was smthg that i do without question, u know what i mean?

do things happen for a reason? what's my reason? i need a reason!

didn't plan it at all, in fact, i planned for bigger things for myself.. how ironic is that.

i received this in the email from syaz yesterday.. i thot it was smthg fun to do, so i having nothing to do indulged in the quiz.

these were my answers:

===

For My Friends, take time to care, because to have a friend you must first be a friend. Hope I receive it back from you! Read through the comments below about your friend and then make sure you read the instruction at the bottom. Have fun!

1. What time is it? 10.50 am
2. Where were you born? KL
3. Ever been to Alaska? Why would i?
4. Ever been toilet papering? WTF?
5. Loved someone so much it made you cry? Ya-haa… *having flashbacks*
6. Been in a car accident? Who hasn’t?
7. Croutons or bacon bits: Can’t eat bacon.
8. Favorite day of the week? Wednesday - it was the day both me and the lover were born on!
9. Favorite Restaurant: No faves.
10. Favorite Flower: Don't really like flowers, but if i had to choose, it'd be white roses.
11. Favorite Drink: CokeLightOnly *wink*
12. Favorite ice cream: Haagen Dasz’ Coffee flavoured… *drools*
13. Favorite fast food restaurant? KFC
14. What color is your bedroom carpet? Don’t have one.
15. How many times have you failed your driver's test? I’m a fantastic driver, how could I have failed my test? Sheesh.
16. Before this one, from whom did you get your last e-mail from? My friend asking me to check on the price of a handphone she wants to buy.. do I look like a taukeh kedai handphone to u? :P
17. What do you do most often when you are bored? Read or sleep or watch tv... or sleep.
18. Bedtime: 11ish
19. Who will respond to this e-mail the quickest? Let’s see who’s got nothing better to do like me :)
20. Who is the person you sent this to that is least likely to respond? Sikayun [she actually replied! wowwww!]
21. Who is the person that you are most curious to see their answers? entah
22. Ford or Chevy: Ford.
23. What are you listening to right now: my annoying colleague answering her telephone in a very annoying way.
24. What are your favorite colors: blue.
25. How many tattoos do you have? Can’t have any.
26. How many pets do you have? One lovely midget exotic short-haired cat and one pondan cat, who’s so loud he could shake the tiles off the roof. I’m thinking of sending him back to the shelter.. tsk tsk.
27. Which came first the chicken or the egg? or…
28. What would you like to accomplish before you die? I don’t aim so high…
29. How many people are you sending this e-mail to? Just a few, don’t have many frens who care about these things…

RETURN DIRECTIONS: Now, here's what you're supposed to do... And please do not spoil the fun. Hit forward, delete my answers and type in your answers. Then send this to a whole bunch of people you know INCLUDING the person who sent it to you. The theory is that you will learn a lot of little known facts about those who know you. Remember to send it back to the person who sent it to you.

===

i received replies from the people whom i forwarded this quiz to and amazingly, answers to a coupla questions strangely contain a common denominator. hmmmm...

from sonta sonata:
Who will respond to this e-mail the quickest? Zeed of course

from yuyun:
Who will respond to this e-mail the quickest? Well im only sending to you guys and zeed sent it first and ya she would be the first to answer this if she hadn’t already.

from the crazycat:
Who is the person you sent this to that is least likely to respond? zeeda..oppsss..she already answered..hehehehe..unless she has so many free time, she might do it again..hahahaha

see?? hmmmm... aku ni takde keja sangat ke ah?

my reputation with my frens is "the girl whose job is checking her emails".

i didn't plan to be like this...

should i be worried...?

[in retrospect:
i DO have work, don't think aku makan gaji buta all the time... it's just that, i like to give each email the attention it screams for, is that such a crime? hihi

but seriously, what i mean is, shouldn't i be re-thinking about my life goals and shit? cos what i planned for myself when i was younger is not what i'm doing now.. i know lah, kita hanya mampu merancang, hanya Tuhan yang menentukannya.. tapi i'm not that irresponsible to leave it all to Him mah.. and He would be angry too if i solely left my fate to Him, i'm sure... kita kena ikhtiar & do the best we can, kan?

my point is, i don't know what the hell i want to do with my life... i'll have to seriously re-think things...]

xxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxx

i'm calling my new car "little miss sunshine" (like the movie) cos it's yellow.

a car review perhaps? if u can just humour me for a minute here.. so...

the hyundai getz 1.4 is a very relaxing car to drive, it rides and handles super smoothly (i'm not saying this cos i work for the company. and no, i'm not getting paid for this). i say relaxing because it is just that - relaxing. i don't have to strain my muscles and become mrs plasticwoman to move the steering wheels, and i don't have to have bionic vision to look at the blind spots during parking.

talking about parking, it is fantastically easy to park. manouvering is a cinch.

space-wise, similar to the myvi. what can u expect from a small/compact car, kan... don't la expect u can fit your almari baju yang besar in there.

price for the CKD version is definitely affordable. u can buy the inokom make, which is just as great, has exactly the same specs but is less expensive (from RM54k+ compared to the CBU units that start from RM70k+). inokom getz only has the 1.4 model but hyundai getz comes in the 1.3, 1.4 & 1.6 models.

also, there are many cubby-holes where u can put your knick-knacks around the interior, like coins & hairclips & keys & lipsticks... i like :)

to make things better, it was voted the best small car of 2006 by Cars, Bikes & Trucks, NST.

in short, it's perfect for a girl.

and if the getz were a boy, i'd make him my menantu (kay, jibby is still my numero uno hehe).

ferry boats

i SO love grey's anatomy.

i dreamt of derek shepherd last night. dammit he's hot. seriously. (i also dreamt of u baby, derek's fictional. oh... and u're hot too! seriously!!).

i have finished part 1 of season 3 last wkend, which was yesterday. i neglected my wifely duties just to watch them. and the hubs (looked like) he didn't mind it (luv u hunnybuns!). he even made his own breakfast cos i crept out of bed in the morning to watch the goddamned addictive thing somewhere else. haha.

GA is so awesome, i can't even begin to describe it.

season 3 will give u a lot of surprises - tears (lotsa tears, ber-bucket-bucket load of tears), laughs, smiles, familiarity, recognition, aha moments - the whole nine tumbling emotional yards. although i haven't got the part 2 (which i will soonish), i will revel in the awesomeness of part 1 and replay the episodes in my head over and over again.

GA is my life guru right now.

i've learned that
- making mistakes is not the end of the world, although i've made quite a few up till now, and learning the hell to not repeat them..
- love will find its way to u, if u truly believe in it..
- time will heal your wounds, no matter how deep it is..
- the scars will remain, but u will forgive... in time...

ahhh... the wisdom of zeeda yazid, it never ceases! (hihi) so if u need any advice, i'm all ears :)

omg i SO want to ride those goddamned ferry boats in seattle.

and omg i am SO meredith right now (just like i was SO carrie bradshaw back then hehe).

oh ya someone died, actually, 2 people died, someone got super rich, one couple got back together, one couple divorced, someone left someone again, one couple stayed together but is in a strange relationship, one couple is playing hard to get but is in fact in love with each other...

... oh well, u'll see it all when it comes on your stupid box next stupid year... booya!

announcements (seriously)

1. we are selling our Toyota Altis 1.6 (A), year 2004, colour: navy blue, free of accidents. the condition is of course excellente because, come on, do u think that jim and i would thrash our car around? he's a car lover and i'm just a fantastic driver :P we maintain our possessions very carefully. seriously.

price: RM71k - RM75k (negotiable)

if anybody wants to view the car for a potential purchase, please do let me know. i can be contacted via my gmail (view my profile). to frens who already know my mobile number, of course can contact me there laa.

please also forward this intention of ours to your frens & family if u can cos u never know of people who are looking for a great car (which is what ours is!).. we have to let go of this car cos we just got another one and paying for 2 cars seems unnecessary to us at the present moment.. maybe when we have kids later on... we'll see.

2. according to suanie, i am an estee lauder convert. after reading her post where she tried an estee lauder range and gave raving reviews (no she wasn't paid to do it), i was convinced! so i got myself RM300 worth of [1] total make-up remover (very important, this, for anyone who wears make-up, even if it's only compact powder like me), [2] a facial cleanser and [3] an exfoliator cum mask. this can last me a few months, according to the beautician (mistilah dia cakap camtu dak, nak jual punya pasal) but i didn't regret a single penny cos after the first use, i felt a difference already.. i've ditched my RM15 neutrogena cleansers and will not turn back, yo!

3. i have also been worried at the state of my hair, which is frizzy, dry and course. in an effort to regain my college hair, i have purchased a pair of shampoo and conditioner that is only sold at saloons and specialty shops (like sasa and shins). they cost me RM200 (OMG!) but damn it's worth it. jim wants to use 'em too but i'm gonna let him use the shampoo only (sikit saja ye baby!). nasib baik rambut dia sikit.. ada hati nak pakai conditioner pulak tu :P

4. i bought the box set of Heroes Season 1 Part 1 (11 episodes) 3 days ago and have watched all of it. i know what's gonna happen and i'm gonna buy the Part 2 (the rest of the season) soon so you all Heroes freaks jangan jeles :P

5. i also bought the box set of Grey's Anatomy Season 3 Part 1 (12 episodes) together with it. haven't started on these but will go crazy and watch all of it at once like i did for Season 2 (10 hours straight in front of the tv, i got zombified!) - once i find the time.

6. i have the full 2nd Season of Grey's Anatomy...

7. and Seasons 1-3 of Sex and the City.

8. if anyone wants to rent any of my sets - RM3 per cd for 3 days, surcharge of RM1 per cd per day for extra days.

seriously :)

one bed, one shower, one summons, one tiger... one island :)

"are there any pregnancies, maam?"

"no..... i'm just fat"

the girl at the airasia check-in counter at lcct asked me as we passed her our passports. maybe it was the dress.. hmmm...

kakcik, amin, my darling and i were on the same flight but dicky and wifey flew the day before on a different airline from singapore.

the flight to phuket was very smooth, i slept all the way except for the last 15mins before arrival.. and i woke up to an annoying middle-aged man who had a few machais around him.. he sat 2 rows behind us and was drunk. on the plane. rambling loudly (and i mean LOUDLY). we suspect he's a military guy who's on his way for a "funket" (fun junket) and we all know what a funket in fuket would involve right? (hint: full-service massage *wink*). the most embarrassing thing was that he was a melayu who drank too much beer on the plane in the middle of the afternoon and made a fool of himself. see now why i'm sometimes embarrassed of my own race? go figure.

so anywho, phuket in its essence is a beautiful island. but 'the land of smiles', it is not. the mat sallehs telah mengaburkan mata mereka dengan duitan yang banyak so they didn't even care about us asian tourists.. no smiles, just frowns. all of them asked us "where u from?" and once they hear malaysia je, terus they turn off. ciss...

...especially during shopping time. it was not an exciting experience to me. they open the prices of their goods way too high, thinking that we have the kind of money the europeans do and expecting us to either pay for it, or bargain for only a little bit and if we don't want to pay what they ask for, then they will tell us to shove off. jim's interpretation of the phuketians - "they are all out to get us". ya, out to get our money that is. a conversation with the locals told us that after the tsunami incident, businesspeople had to get loans from banks to rebuild their businesses hence the higher prices of goods.. profit margin is small and revenue mostly goes to paying the loans back.. oh well... if only i had this little piece of information before deciding to go, it would've saved us a lot of sakits hatis, right?

it was also very hot there, too hot for me actually.. i don't know if it was just me or other people also felt the same way, but the sunrays just bite your skin, totally blistering it. no matter how much sunblock i slathered on myself, i still got burnt. but it's ok. i want to show off my "tan" (read: gelap) to all and sundry ;)

dicky and wifey got sick from the tuk-tuk ride - literally, they got sick in plastic bags.. ewww.. poor things.

oh yeah we went to see a tiger show at this bar called a-go-go bar.. they had needles, bananas, pingpong balls, and smoked with their vajayjays.. there was a no photo, no v.d.o, no telefon policy so i cannot show anything to u as proof that i was there. shites. all i can say is that it was disgusting yet fascinating at the same time..

i felt strangely stirred and turned on.

*erkkk*

also, i ate a "telur belangkas" for the first time.. cools.

for our daily transport, we hired motorbikes and got a summons for parking at a zebra crossing one night. they, the people who ride in 3s on one bike and tak pakai helmet, nak saman we all? fuck off lah. tapi kena gak bayar 300bath to release the chains. cilakos they all. we were all gusto wanting to go for a massage right before that but after seeing the chains on the bikes, our spirits literally deflated but i went to get a mani & pedi. why worry when u can look preedy? hehe.

ok, whatever lah... here are some photos.. they are in no particular order whatsoever cos.. aku dah malas lah nak susun.. not an easy task okkay...

i'm a camwhore :P

mat salleh separuh bogels

that's telur belangkas, we had that for lunch with kerabu mangga - super yummers!
